What is Scene One? Scene
One is a program for high school age and early college age young adults
(approximately ages 14 - 21) with an interest in the theatre.
Established in Fall 2002, the
program offers opportunities throughout the fall, winter, and spring
months to get together with like-minded people and enjoy theatre-related
activities, including going to see productions, visiting locales of
theatrical interest (such as the Renaissance Festival), and participating in
creative workshops on theatre-related topics. During the summer, the
group then stages an original production using the theatre space at
Appleseed Productions in Syracuse, New York.

How do I get
involved?
There are no special
"membership" requirements to get involved... you can come
to just one event when we do something that interests you, or you
can come to them all! There are no membership fees, although
some events (particularly when there are higher costs to us like
ticket prices and such) do have a cost associated. To
"join" us, all you have to do is come along for one of our
events! Check out the calendar page and plan a future event to
join in on, or you can reach Scene One for more information by leaving a
message at 437-5141, or by emailing hipius@twcny.rr.com.

How does Scene One
support itself?
Scene One is the result of
cooperative efforts from a number of sources. A very generous
grant helps us fund our programming, providing for the resources we
use and allowing us to offer affordable participation costs to even
the events for which we do have to charge; it also gives us the
budget enough to run our entire summer program 100% COST FREE for
participants (a real oddity in our area!), combining grant funding
with income from ticket and merchandise sales to keep the program
running.
We're also fortunate to have
the support of the Atonement
Lutheran Church in providing us with locations and resources for
many of our events, as well as administrative and programming
assistance from Appleseed
Productions, a local theatre company.
