My Kit

We've come a long way from the days of the 110 cartridge camera that my parents started me out with.  Through upgrades and some wise gifts from family and friends, I've built up a pretty good kit that we take along.  Of course, as we all know, the best equipment can't affect the doofus behind the shutter... but it surely doesn't hurt in the process.

Kodak Advantix C750 - This APS camera is my oldest working one, and was a wedding gift from my parents to my wife and I.  It has served us well since we first got it in August of 2000, and has taken the preponderance of our shots up until the beginning of 2005, as well as remaining our primary hard-film camera.  The two "lucky shots" you will find from our earlier days were taken with the Advantix.  Unfortunately, we discovered in July of 2005 that it doesn't like the Caribbean, where it malfunctioned for the entire trip, only to suddenly and inexplicably return to perfect working order when we got home.  Oh, well.
Panasonic PV-DV53D Digital Video Camera - I bought this one a few years ago as I needed it for a course in my masters' degree program, and have taken many mini-DV tapes full of stills and video with it since.  Fool that I am, I did not get around to buying and installing a firewire connection for my computer until two years later, and so I am still in the process of occasionally sifting through and sorting the data on old tapes.  Unfortunately, we discovered in July of 2005 that it ALSO doesn't like the Caribbean, where it spent most of the trip shouting "Dew Detected!" on the display and shutting itself off.  We did get a few shots, though, which I hope to someday reach in our backlog of full digital video tapes.
Quad-Cam - This neat trick-shot camera was given to me as a birthday gift by my good friend CJ.  It has four lenses, each with its own timed shutter, such that a single shot exposes the film in quadrants, each exposure separated by a split second.  The result is a four-frame action shot showing movement.
4.0 MegaPixel Digitial Zoom Camera - This is my new weapon of choice, and the source of most of the shots you will see in this gallery.  It was a real gamble purchase from eBay, as it has (I kid you not) no manufacturer and no model information - it is completely generic, but fully featured and takes great shots.  For what I could afford, it was a real miracle find.
Random Supplies - In our case, in addition to the four instruments, we usually carry a roll of 35 mm (for the Quad-Cam), two rolls of APS (for the Kodak), and two mini-DV tapes (for the Panasonic); we find that the Compact Flash card we bought for the Digital Camera allows it to hold all the shots we care to take internally without ever needing to switch out the card.  We also usually carry a compact tri-stiletto telescoping tripod, just in case we want to try to get ourselves in a shot with the timer, usually with comical results.
